One of the symbols for fall season treats is a good old apple crisp. But if you have ever bought one at any fall fest, you would know how expensive they can be. So, I’ll be showing you how to make apple crisp from the comfort of your own home and dorm room if you live in an apartment.
Ingredients:
3-4 Honey Crisp apples
2 tsp cinnamon
1 Tbsp white sugar
½ cup brown sugar
1 cup oats
½ tsp salt
¼ cup flour
4 oz (1 stick) softened butter
1 Tbsp lemon juice
Recipe
Let's start with the apples. Make sure to wash them first. Start by peeling and de-coring them. A simple method for peeling is to circle the stem at the top and then peel from top to bottom.
If you don't have an apple corer, you can cut the seeds out with a knife while you dice.
After you’ve cut up your apples, lay them out in your baking dish, nice and evenly. In the dish, pour ¼ cup of brown sugar, 1 Tbsp of white sugar, 1 tsp of cinnamon, ¼ tsp of salt, and 1 Tbsp of lemon juice over your apple chunks, then mix. Make sure each apple chunk has a good coating.
Now, onto the crumble. In a separate bowl, take all the dry ingredients: 1 cup of oats, ¼ cup of brown sugar, ¼ cup of flour, 1 tsp of cinnamon, and ¼ tsp salt, and mix them all together. After mixing, add 1 stick (4 oz.) of softened butter and knead it into your dry ingredients, turning it into a smooth paste.
Once you have your crumble paste, use a spatula to coat the apples with it. Make sure every bit of apple is covered. After everything is evenly coated, place your baking dish in a preheated oven at 350°F for 40-45 minutes.
This is a great way to give yourself that wonderful fall treat all year long, and a fantastic dish to bring to any social gathering.
