About The Cyclone Chronicle
The Cyclone Chronicle is an entirely independent, student-run newspaper of Centenary University, Hackettstown, NJ. It had its genesis in the WRI2300-Experiential Writing class as a student newspaper project during the fall 2023 semester. The mission of The Cyclone Chronicle is to report on news, events, and issues that are relevant to the University community, provide a forum for discussion among students, faculty and staff, and give students training and experience in the field of journalism. The Cyclone Chronicle understands and is committed to fulfilling its responsibility of abiding by Centenary University’s policies.
The opinions and perspectives expressed in The Cyclone Chronicle are solely those of the student authors.
The Cyclone Chronicle welcomes writers, editors, photographers, graphic designers, social media experts and other creatives from all communities of the University to join and contribute to the newspaper.
Code of Ethics
As an independent student newspaper, The Cyclone Chronicle strives to provide the University community with new, relevant and insightful information that inspires critical conversation. In the pursuit of this mission, we insist that members of The Cyclone Chronicle staff adhere to the highest standards of integrity, honesty and good journalistic practice.
Editorial Policy
The Cyclone Chronicle has a commitment to accuracy and clarity and will print corrections or clarifications if information is incorrect in its next issue.
To report an error of fact, email newspaper adviser at janet.zatta@centenaryuniversity.edu.
We welcome op-eds (opinion pieces) from members of the greater Centenary community. Op-eds must be relevant to the University and not just express the writer’s opinion on a particular topic but also explain why the writer holds that opinion. Advertisements and self-promotional material will not be accepted.
The Cyclone Chronicle reserves the right not to publish an op-ed if the staff deems that it is poorly done or contains personal attacks and derogatory or threatening language. We will also not publish content that is unsubstantiated, factually untrue, or libelous.
Comment Policy
We welcome readers to comment on our articles and start a conversation. Email addresses for our editors can be found in their bios.
Our editors review each comment with the adviser before publishing it. Comments must relate to a specific article. We will not publish comments that contain profanity, personally attack the reporter, and are factually untrue.
