If you’re looking for an awesome appetizer this Thanksgiving, look no further than delicious pumpkin-shaped pizza bites. Cyclone Chronicle’s club members, Jodi Lanka and Carly Wolf, recently made this recipe during a sleepover. All you need are a few ingredients that you probably already have in your fridge to make your pizzas into a pumpkin.
Ingredients:
Pizza Dough (1 pizza crust)
Pepperoni (1 small pack, 1 piece per pizza bite)
Mozzarella or Dairy Free Cheese (1 store bought pack)
Olive Oil (1 teaspoon)
Special Tools:
Twine (1 ball)
Here’s how to make it:
-Lightly stretch out a small amount of pizza dough. (1 pizza crust)
- Add pepperoni and mozzarella to the center of the stretched dough and shape the dough into a ball. (Practice with your dough, so your pizzas are a good size)
- Wrap twine around the middle of the dough ball and tie it 4 times. Make sure you turn the dough with each tie.
- Place dough balls on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper and gently brush them with olive oil
- Bake at 425 for 20-25 minutes (Longer if your cheese is dairy-free)
You may not have an entire oven in your dorm, and it could get messy, but you can make it once you get home for Thanksgiving break if you’re a resident. Commuters, that’s no problem for you!
With Carly and I both being dairy-free and me being gluten-free as well, the warmth of these golden-brown, comforting pizza bites was a treat for both of us. It felt like an edible pumpkin in your mouth.
“It was really easy and it was fun to make,” said Wolf.
Happy Thanksgiving, Cyclones!
