A Taylor Swift update posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Sept. 24, 2023, turned into a “seemingly” viral sensation overnight.
Amidst a flurry of media attention and reports regarding Swift’s latest romantic link to Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, a post from X user @tswifterastour captioned, “Taylor Swift was eating a piece of chicken with ketchup and seemingly ranch!” took X, and eventually big companies such as Heinz, by storm.
In the days that followed, the term “seemingly ranch” was seen across the media. Swift fans were making “seemingly ranch” friendship bracelets, while the Empire State Building’s X account posted a picture of the iconic structure lit up red and white in a post captioned “Ketchup and seemingly ranch” on September 27.
On the same day, Heinz announced the release of a limited edition “ketchup and seemingly ranch” following the explosion of attention towards the fan post.
While the combination of ketchup and ranch is not a new endeavor for Heinz, the amount of attention was new for X user @tswifterastour. In response to a TikTok about another fan’s “seemingly ranch” Halloween costume, @tswifterastour said “TELL ME WHY THIS IS SEEMINGLY THE BEST HALLOWEEN COSTUME EVER??? I LOVE THIS!!!”
On October 3, the user posted an announcement that, courtesy of a currently unnamed company, they will have the ability to provide live updates on Swift’s Eras Tour directly from the concerts themselves.
Most recently, the Eras Tour came to movie theaters across the country and earned $96 million domestically throughout its opening weekend, becoming the most commercially successful concert film to date.
Paired with the “seemingly ranch” phenomenon and thousands of Swift fans suddenly finding a penchant for football, this recent box office success is yet another testament to Swift’s “seemingly” endless impact on pop culture.
