The Coffin of Andy and Leyley Episode 3: Decay has finally been released! After years of delay and postponed releases, the first part of this episode is out in the wild!
“But wait!” You may cry, “Only part 1, you say?”
Why, yes!
As you may know, the previous episode had 2 different endings. Depending on which one you got will determine which version of episode 3 you will play through. Players who achieved the Burial ending will be set on episode 3’s Burial path, while those who got the Decay ending will begin the Decay path. As of now, only the Decay route is available, with plans for Burial’s release at a later date.
Sadly, the game will not let you start on episode 3, so in case you need a refresher or are unsure how to get this ending, let’s briefly go over how to get the Decay ending of episode 2.
Source: Nemlei
The Decay route is often considered the “bad” ending, although the other ending is equally deplorable. While the Burial route will strengthen Andrew and Ashley’s bond, however concerning it may be, Decay is the opposite. Tensions between Andrew and Ashley are high. They do not trust each other and are extremely antagonistic towards one another. Instead of moving on from their shared trauma at the hands of their parents, they are consumed by it.
To unlock this route and continue to episode 3, you must either not trust Andrew as Ashley or betray Ashley as Andrew. This can be done easily by picking the correct corresponding dialog options.
When Ashley considers whether she can trust Andrew alone, select “Fuck that!” It will prevent the following scene that gives Andrew an opportunity to betray Ashley.
Alternatively, if Ashley chooses to trust Andrew, you can betray her, leading to the Decay route and a more hostile relationship between the two. As Andrew, when his mother extends an olive branch, chooses “Reflect.” Andrew will second-guess his decisions and express that although he wants to live a normal life, he can’t because he is trapped by Ashley. Ashley will overhear this, and view it as a betrayal of trust, and put you on the route for Decay.
After whichever choice you make on the Decay path, Ashley will sleep alone and have another prophetic dream about the future. The trinket foretells that Andrew will attempt to murder her with a cleaver. You can try to get away, but no matter what, Andrew will catch you. Here, you have another crucial choice to make that will affect the endings you can receive in episode 3.
Shoot or don’t shoot, Andrew.

Previously in this episode, Andrew shot a hitman with Ashley’s gun. If Andrew panics and unloads all the bullets, the shoot option will not be available to Ashley, automatically putting you on the “don’t shoot” path.
If you choose to murder Andrew, then congratulations! You are now eligible for four unique endings. If you don’t shoot, you may still acquire some of these endings, but the majority of them will be unavailable.
Now that we are well on our way to an extremely disturbing and toxic relationship, let’s look into the specifics on how to acquire each ending in episode 3!
Andy or Andrew
Who are you?
Source: Nemlei
Another major choice the player can make right at the beginning of episode 3 will also affect which endings you can receive. In the parking lot, Ashley, finally fed up with Andrew’s facade, confronts him in her own special little charming way: by threatening to cut his throat with a cleaver.
She asks him once and for all, who is he, really? Andy or Andrew.
If the player chooses “Andy,” the game’s narrative will lead them to the first of many “dead ends” this episode has. A dead end is basically an ending with no resolution. The Coffin of Andy and Leyley, Episode 3, currently has only one “true ending” that will lead into episode 4, while the other endings are intended to be standalone and not canon to the overarching narrative.
With that said, buckle in, because we have a lot of endings to cover!
“Happy End!”
The ending you deserve
Source: Nemlei
This is the earliest ending a player can trigger, and can be earned regardless of whether you choose “Andrew” or “Andy.”
When the demon opens the portal to its dimension, simply don’t go through it for five seconds. After that time has passed, the police will arrive at the scene and immediately open fire on Andrew and Ashley.
This is the first “good” ending players can achieve in the whole game, and it’s earned by doing absolutely nothing!
The good guys beat the bad guys, and justice is served! Their victims’ souls are laid to rest, and the wicked lives of the Graves siblings have ended. Just like their mother always wanted.
And they all lived happily ever after!
But…that ending is kinda boring, huh?
So let’s see what else there is!
“The Prophecy Foretold!”
Tag, I’m it!
Source: Nemlei
To get this ending, you must fulfill Ashley’s prophecy of death by winning a game of tag as Andrew.
To unlock this ending, you must shoot Andrew during the vision of this event in episode 2, choose “Andrew” during the scene in the car, and catch Ashley when she runs from you.
The tricky part here is catching Ashley, as she is very quick. You need to sprint to keep up with her and press the interact button when you are close to her. I found the best way to do this is by spamming the button whenever I was close enough to grab her.
With that, the prophecy of death is fulfilled!
“Graves in Graves”
If only you were buried together
Source: Nemlei
This ending is achieved when you fail the police investigation scene.
To become eligible for this ending, shoot Andrew during the dream in episode 2, choose “Andrew” during the scene in the parking lot, and don’t catch Ashley after entering the realm between.
When Andrew and Ashley argue in the apartment, Andrew will attack Ashley. The commotion will attract the attention of the police. When they arrive, they will interrogate you, leading to a segment where you have to try and convince the officers that nothing suspicious is going on. If we fail the investigation, the “Graves in Graves” ending is unlocked.
To fail, simply choose all the options that make you look the most suspicious. This shouldn’t be too hard, considering the interrogation takes place in an apartment you don’t own, occupied by an unresponsive man lying on the bathroom floor and Andrew is chained to a radiator and half drunk while Ashley has a fresh bruise on her cheek and can’t keep her mouth shut for five seconds.
You couldn’t look more sus even if you tried.
Also, keep in mind that some dialogue choices will make you look suspicious, regardless of your actions, which can be beneficial in this ending route. Again, courtesy of Ashley.
When the cops ask about Carl’s outfit, answer with, “For fashion.” When they ask about the chain, they say, “Fashion again.” Finally, when they ask about the yelling, say, “It was roleplay.”
The police won’t buy your bullshit, and Ashley will attempt to kill the officers, leading to the “Graves in Graves” ending.
We have now concluded the “game over” endings, and can now move on to the 3 major dead endings the player can earn.
“The B!tch in the Box”
Don’t grow a spine
Source: Nemlei
To achieve this ending, you must completely submit to Ashley and “be whatever she wants you to be.”
When she asks you who’s under her, answer “Andy.” And that’s it!
Luckily, there are no other major choices you need to worry about from this point, since Andy has resigned all control over his life to Ashley.
Regardless of what minor choices you make from here as either Andy or Ashley, the ending will be the same. Andy will not play tag, he will not hurt Ashley, and Ashley will treat him like the disposable toy she always wanted him to be.
“Deadest of Dead Ends”
Splat!
Source: Nemlei
The “Deadest of Dead Ends” and “Shots and Such” endings can be achieved on the same route.
This route is set if the gun still has bullets, and Ashley shoots Andrew at the end of episode 2. In episode 3, choose “Andrew” during the scene in the car, don’t win at tag, successfully lies to the police, and manages to convince Julia to help you escape the apartment.
As you already know or can probably guess, this game is extremely dark and disturbing, and this ending is no exception. By going down this route, you will see the most vile, decrepit, deplorable, sickening, and honest depiction of a loveless relationship you will ever come across in a video game.
I warn you now, dear reader, proceed to these remaining endings with utmost caution, lest you be traumatized for life.
Anyway, the key to getting the “Deadest of Dead Ends” depends on whether the player has found the engagement ring. (More on how to acquire the ring later.) If you don’t find it or find it and pawn it off later, you will get the “Deadest of Dead Ends” ending.
“Shots and Such”
You achieved nothing
Source: Nemlei
Now, we arrive at the most complicated ending of this episode so far: “Shots and Such.” Follow the same route as you would if you were following the “Deadest of Dead Ends” route. The only way to unlock this route is by finding and picking up the engagement ring in the forest behind the gas station near the beginning of the episode.
To find the engagement ring, you must solve an extra puzzle while traversing the woods, but be warned! You only get one chance to solve it, so remember to save your game before attempting. After this, KEEP the ring, do not try to sell it or throw it away.
This will unlock the “Shots and Such” ending, and with that, you have achieved the hardest ending in the game so far.
“Cliffhanger”
Become friends with a demon!
Source: Nemlei
The final ending on the Decay route is simple to find, but difficult if you struggle with puzzle solving.
To set yourself on the “Cliffhanger” ending route, the player must NOT shoot Andrew during Ashley’s vision and tell Ashley that he is Andrew. Later on, Andrew is tasked by Ashley’s contracted demon to collect souls for it. During this segment, Andrew will have the opportunity to summon the entity from his childhood, “Lord Unknown.”
One intense therapy session with a demon later, Lord Unknown will whisk Andrew away from Ashley, leading to the ending appropriately titled: “Cliffhanger.”
This is considered the true ending that leads into part 2 of Decay when it releases. For now, we are left speculating on what Lord Unknown could possibly want with Andrew’s apparently worthless soul, according to Ashley’s demon. No doubt, Ashley will be enraged by the news and come after him as soon as possible, while Andrew attempts to escape Ashley once and for all.
Only time will tell. And hopefully it tells me fast, because I HAVE to see how this screwed up story ends!
