Taylor Swift's Christmas Album cover from 2007. (Source: Spotify)
I know I am not the biggest Taylor Swift fan, but I do love her, and Christmas is my favorite holiday. The Taylor and Christmas crossover is too magical not to review! I found as I keep listening to this album, the better it gets, and I love that she does each song her own way, with two of her own written tunes. “The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection,” was released in 2007 as an extended play.
I am way too excited for this review, so I am just going to jump in. I will review this small EP top to bottom and give my Cyclone Rating. For the Cyclone rating, I will also call it my Christmas Tree ranking.
Last Christmas- This cover of Wham!’s Christmas classic by Taylor just makes me super happy. It is just an upbeat tune and makes it her own by adding some of her own lyrics, and it’s a song any Swiftie would love!
Christmases When You Were Mine- This tune is one of the only songs that Taylor wrote for this album. I like this song, but it is not my favorite. I do remember hearing it on Magic98.3 once, I believe, and I was surprised it was on there.
Santa Baby- One of my other favorites, which is another cover Taylor did for this album. Originally sung by Eartha Kitt, I find that Taylor really brings the modern sound to this tune, which is geared towards her younger generation fans.
Silent Night- Personally, this song is one of my least favorite Christmas songs, but I do find that her voice fits well with it.
Christmas Must Be Something More- This is such a great vibe song for Taylor. Reminds me of something I would hear in Kohl’s growing up and on her debut “Taylor Swift” album. The theme of this song is the fact that people forget about the religious aspect of Christmas and how commercial it is.
White Christmas- Taylor’s version of White Christmas is super interesting and fun. It has a guitar background, which is very her, and it’s more upbeat than it would usually be, which makes it super Taylor.
For me, these Christmas songs are some of my favorites in the pop genre. I have four: Fruitcake: Sabrina Carpenter, Home For Christmas: NSYNC, Under The Mistletoe: Justin Bieber, and, of course, Taylor’s album. Her album is up there for sure. Out of Christmas Trees and Cyclones, I would give this a 5-star because it is just a great upbeat, comforting Christmas album for me. Something people might not know about me is that Christmas music is one of my favorite genres, so this is super fun to review.
