Question
Dear Cyclone,
How do you feel about rescue animals, dogs in particular, because I love dogs!
From,
A Dog Lover
Answer
Hello Fellow Dog Lover,
I absolutely believe in the phrase, adopt, don’t shop! There are so many furry friends of all ages out there in need of forever homes. No dog, cat, or any animal, for that matter, should spend their life in a shelter. When looking for a new addition to your family, just remember, adopt, don’t shop!
Have a great summer,

Question
Dear Cyclone,
I enjoy listening to R&B, hip-hop, rock, and pop songs from the 1980s to the 2000s. Some of my favorite artists from the period are Michael Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Britney Spears, Jordin Sparks, Nelly Furtado, Timbaland, Gorillaz, and the Crazy Frog (yes, the CGI animated frog with an invisible motorcycle and a helmet with goggles).
When I enjoy my breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the Cyclone Dining Hall with my friends and other students at Centenary, I also have to listen to songs from the 2010s and the 2020s, most of which I do not like. Most of the time, the radio station repeats the 2010s-20s songs that I'd rather not listen to, giving me an uncomfortable ear worm. What should I do?

A Fun-Loving, Hard-Working Rockstar
Answer
Dear Fun-Loving, Hard-Working Rockstar,
Your music taste sounds amazing! You've got some great artists in that list, especially early 2000s Britney Spears. But, "the Crazy Frog" is new to me! I'd love to hear some of "Crazy Frog" music sometime to see what it's all about. Send some in!
Now, onto your issue. I totally get it—having a pop song earworm can be annoying. Have you thought about asking them to switch up the radio station they play? That might help! Let me know how it goes!

Question
Dear Cyclone,
I have recently transferred to Centenary this fall and I want to get more involved on campus. Prior to my time at Centenary, I was part of multiple clubs and organizations at my previous college. After being here for the last couple of months, I am a bit lost at sea when it comes to being part of campus life, clubs, and organizations. What would you recommend I should do to get more involved at Centenary?
From,
An Extracurricular Enthusiast
Answer
Dear Extracurricular Enthusiast,
Welcome to Centenary University! You can join many sports, organizations, and clubs during the fall semester. Every fall, Centenary hosts the Involvement Fair to allow students to choose which on-campus activities they would like to participate in.
If you still need suggestions on which clubs to attend, you can ask your advisor and/or academic success specialist during the beginning of the fall semester.

Question
Dear Cyclone,
Should I be triggered by Bon Jovi?
From,
A Silly College Student
Answer
Dear Silly College Student,
Looking at this question, it sounds like you’ve been grappling with this Bon Jovi issue for quite a while. I’m hoping that my response will give you some clarity.
I assume you were introduced to them by force, likely while you were younger, in the backseat of your mom’s car on the way home from the grocery store… or something to that effect. Regardless, one day, you were clueless, and the next, you knew all the lyrics.
Don’t worry. That’s totally normal. The same thing happened to me. Bon Jovi became a part of me completely against my will.
But, let’s keep it real, shall we?
We live in the multifaceted state of New Jersey, a state known as the hailing place of Frank Sinatra, John Travolta, and oh yeah, that’s right: Bon Jovi. Here, there is no escaping the dulcet tones of “Livin’ on a Prayer.” You can run, and you can hide, but there will always be a radio station out there writing a check to the band at least once a day.
That being said, here’s my advice: do not allow yourself to be triggered by Bon Jovi. In fact, do the opposite. Immerse yourself in Bon Jovi’s discography and become their biggest fan. I guarantee you’ll find some hidden gems."
