It’s always hard to lose an icon in any industry, but Eric Dane was different. A real actor, and a real guy. Dane had been fighting ALS for a while, which is a disease where it is hard for your nerves to communicate with your muscles. Everyone thought he would fight through it because he always was great with a smile on his face, but sadly, he passed.
The first time I saw him was when he was on Grey’s Anatomy when I was in high school, and it was my comfort show. When my mom told me he passed, I was shocked but also quite sad at the same time.
Grey’s Anatomy became popular when I was in sophomore year of high school and I got hooked on the show. I felt like I could relate to the characters, and they comforted me because they felt like friends. Dane’s character, Mark, was funny, which is why I liked him. He was very well liked by many of the lady fans, including me.
Dane had this charisma about him in every character he played, whether it was dark or not. You could tell he enjoyed the art of acting and was a great one. The chemistry he had on screen with the Grey’s Anatomy actors was very evident, and he was friendly with everyone.
I have never heard anyone ever say that they did not like Dane, and there is a reason.
The only other show I have seen Dane in is Euphoria, where his character is quite dark and not the lovable kind like on Grey’s Anatomy (although hated by the other characters in the show). There was something about him that no matter what character he played that he did it so well you would love it anyway.
Dane just had this way about him as a person and everyone felt love from him. He is one of those actors you only get in a lifetime. I hope everyone remembers him forever, because I know I will.
