I have lived on campus for three semesters before, and I will be going back next semester. Although this spring semester was decidedly different.
All my classes were online, and with tuition going up, I decided I would just live at home. I was excited and sad at the same time. I have been doing school from home for almost four months now, I am honestly getting tired of it. I am very excited to be going back to campus and living there next semester.
This article will lay out the differences of living at home and doing school vs how it is living on campus with in person classes. I will also add what I like and do not like about both.
Living on campus with in-person classes:
One thing I really enjoy about being on campus and taking classes in person is the community. I see my teachers everyday and my classmates and I have a routine. When I am at home, there is not really a community. I also have friendships with my roommates and others that I can keep up with but being at home it is sort of difficult to keep up with some friendships.
The best part about being at school for me is being in-person classes because I feel like I am really a part of something. Although my classes do feel like small communities online and my teachers are great, something about being at school is a lot better.
Living at home with online classes:
At home, I love that my classes are basically all on one day this semester so I can really take my time on my assignments, which is the beauty of it. I can also make my own home routine, but as I get back to school I will have to make a new one. To be honest, it feels like COVID again. It can get quite lonely sometimes, but I have gotten used to it. Other than that, I do not like when routines change because that is how I am, but it’s okay because it is for the better sometimes.
I do wonder how I will feel going back to living on campus and if I will feel better than when I was at home, or if I liked being at home better. I will just have to see!
