The sheer thought that I’m just about done with my journey here at Centenary is not just astounding, it’s outright unbelievable. In fact, it’s reached a point where I’m not ready to say goodbye, as I have come to accept this campus as my second home. It feels like just yesterday, I was beginning my freshman year, unaware of what incredible opportunities I was about to partake in.
Though a bit anti-social and unaware at first, I crawled out of my shell once I got more familiar with the campus, which led me to create several unforgettable connections.
Namely, through taking an audio production course which was required for my major, I found WNTI—the Sound of Centenary—a radio station where I host my own weekly program. This would then lead me on an unforgettable crash course full of great accomplishments, including being selected as the station’s student programming director—a position which I have proudly maintained for almost three years.
I credit WNTI with helping me to discover a passion in radio, which I would later get to express through a three semesters-long internship at WRNJ 92.7 FM and other nationwide activities like World College Radio Day. But this is not the only passion I would discover while at Centenary…
In fall 2024, I found The Cyclone Chronicle, our student newspaper, where I originally submitted movie reviews as a fun pastime. But this hobby later evolved into something grander, as I climbed the ranks to become its Executive Managing Editor. Through this club, I was not only able to get more in touch with my creative side, but also craft unique stories while bonding with an incredible crew of talented writers.
I've discovered so many passions and details about myself I had never considered before, leaving me with the biggest sense of accomplishment that I've had in a long while. And though I may be walking down the field with my degree in hand soon, I will forever cherish all of the useful skills and unbreakable connections I've made since I first began attending this university.
I've been a DJ, an intern, and an editor, but above all that, I've been a proud student of Centenary University. It's undeniably bittersweet that I'm leaving, but I view this as the start of the next steps in my life's journey. I will forever cherish everything I have learned and gained through this terrific college experience, and look forward to seeing where I can utilize and evolve my skills next as a new chapter begins.
