Centenary students spent a night of thrills, food, and fright at one of Pennsylvania’s biggest Halloween attractions--The Dorney Park Halloween Haunt--on Friday, Oct.24. The event is run by Jamie Weingarten, director of Student Activities.
A bus full of 30 Centenary University students rolled into Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom in Allentown on Friday night ready for roller coasters, good food, and Halloween thrills but few expected just how scary things would get.
The group attended the park’s annual Halloween Haunt, an immersive seasonal event where costumed actors lurk in foggy walkways and themed mazes, mixing jump scares with creepy fun.
“The scare actor costumes were really cool,” said J Dahmer, a sophomore communications major.
The trip, organized through Centenary’s Student Activities Board, gave students a break from midterm stress and a chance to connect outside the classroom. Between screams, laughter, and roller coaster thrills, the night was filled with energy and excitement.
Students explored haunted houses, rode coasters like Steel Force and Talon, and snacked on everything from funnel cakes to snacks from the Sweet Spot.
“I enjoyed spending quality time with my friends and meeting new people and enjoying the rides we went on,” said Chelsea Hilaire, a junior public health major.
Between scares, many students took a break at the game booths, challenging each other to basketball or the claw machine games trying to win the largest prize.
As the bus rolled back toward campus under the moonlight, tired but smiling faces filled the seats, proof that some of the best college moments happen far beyond the classroom walls.
