Writers, rejoice! Prism, the annual student literary magazine, returned digitally to Centenary University for the first time since 2022.
Starting in 1968, Prism began as a way to showcase the creative talents of students across campus. The 2026 edition of Prism includes five prose pieces, seven poems, and five works of art.
Led by Dr. Erica McCrystal, professor of English; Alexis d’Ambly, editor-in-chief and senior writing major; Samanatha Swayze, editor and sophomore writing major; and Carmella Vitel, editor and senior communication major; spent the Fall 2025 semester collecting submissions from writers and artists—both undergraduate and graduate students—of prose, poetry, and art.
“I am thrilled about the return of Prism,” said McCrystal. “This year's edition showcases the creative minds and talents of both undergraduate and graduate students and from across many different disciplines. The array of genres brings a beautiful variety so that all readers can find something enjoyable or relatable.”
“I’m so excited to bring back Prism as a last hurrah before I graduate,” said d’Ambly. “Every submission was so fascinating to read and see, and I cannot wait to show off the talents of our students. It has been such an honor to have been a part of such a long-standing and remarkable campus tradition.”
Prism is currently available to view digitally here.
If interested, submissions for the 2027 issue of Prism will be accepted during next semester. Keep an eye out for an email when classes return in the fall.
