Silvia Rossi, a local psychic medium, came to Centenary to give a gallery-style group reading on Wednesday, Oct. 29 in Taylor Memorial Library.
A psychic medium is a person who has the ability to communicate with spirits or those who have passed away, whether it be by seeing them, speaking with them, or both.
“Silvia Rossi is a modern-day Psychic-Medium who has experienced spirit communications throughout her life,” reads the bio on Rossi’s website. “As a toddler, she saw ‘shadows’ in the room and as a young teen she saw ‘people’ at the foot of her bed. Silvia was born with a gift that filled her days with images and information about people she would come into contact with.”
People speculate whether mediums are real, as it can be difficult to believe what you can’t physically see; although there is doubt, Rossi showed through her readings how connecting with those who have passed can be possible.
Before explaining how her readings work, Rossi started off by having everyone close their eyes and take deep breaths. She wanted to ensure everyone was relaxed, and told the audience to envision a white light. The audience stayed this way for about 10 minutes before moving on to a prayer.
What is a Gallery-Style Reading?
Rossi continued by explaining how a gallery-style reading operates. She had first letter sounds for the names of spirits communicating or showing themselves to her, which she would say aloud to the group; she would give the sound, and then suggest possible names that correlate. For example, she would say, “does anyone know an L E sound? Lee? Lisa?”
Whoever had a relative or knew someone with one of those names who passed away was to raise their hand. Rossi would write down the names of each audience member and the name of who they had a connection with, and then would go around and give a reading to each person.
The Audience Readings
Leona
Rossi mentioned how when she was getting ready for the event and on her way here, she was receiving names she believed were connected to the event and those attending.
The first sound she gave was an L E sound, such as Lee or Lisa. Theresa Lord-Stout, executive director of wellness and nurse practitioner at Centenary University, raised her hand. She mentioned she knew someone named Leona, who was an old friend of hers.
Rossi started by explaining who Leona was, how she was loving and held strong energy. She then asked if she or another loved one suffered from issues with her head or brain, which led to the discussion of Stout’s maternal grandfather who had a stroke. Rossi said both her friend and grandfather were there looking after her.
She also then asked Stout if she enjoyed writing, to which she answered yes; she said her husband had just told her the day before how she should write a book. Rossi then said Stout’s grandfather agreed and she should write a book.
Victoria
Rossi asked if anyone in the audience knew someone named Victor or Victoria. Victoria Ramsay, Centenary’s part-time librarian and archivist, raised her hand as her name was mentioned.
Rossi continued to say she saw red when looking at Ramsay, meaning she has a lot of energy and vibrancy. She also could tell Ramsay may have been feeling unmotivated recently, but would be “hitting restart” and will find a deeper purpose for herself.
While giving Ramsay her reading, Rossi said she saw a couple looking over her, possibly relatives, who will be her personal guide through her personal growth.
Robert
Another name Rossi mentioned was either Robert or Roberta and a woman in the audience raised her hand for this. Robert referred to the girl’s father who passed away. Rossi said she could see him giving her a hug, as he wants her to know he is watching over her and is not as far away as she may think. As Rossi continued with her reading, she began to cry as the connection the girl shared with her father was special.
Rossi asked if she ever wears her father’s clothes, to which she responded yes. The girl also mentioned her brother wears his clothes as well. Rossi then asked if she went on a trip recently, to which the girl responded that she went to the city; Rossi said her father told her she went on a trip and he watches over her wherever she goes.
The girl’s mother, Robert’s wife, was also at the event. Rossi told her he is giving her spiritual strength to continue. She also continued by saying Robert’s mother was with him and they are both looking over their family.
Rossi then asked if they knew someone named Jerry or Gerold, to which Robert’s wife said his father’s name is Jerry. Rossi told her to let Robert’s father know he said hi, as he is still alive, and to check on his leg to make sure it’s okay. The wife then confirmed Jerry had issues with his leg in the past.
Robert
Another woman named Janice raised her hand, saying her husband’s name was Robert. Rossi said she could see Robert pushing his hair back with his hand, which Janice said he did very often.
Rossi continued by saying their relationship was love at first sight, and how her office place is filled with pictures of them together.
“I’m not telling you anything you don’t know. He is just confirming it,” said Rossi.
William
When the name William was mentioned, a woman named Helga raised her hand for her father-in-law. Rossi also heard the name Steven when speaking with Helga, who is her son who passed away.
Rossi asked which one of them had a heart or lung problem, which Helga confirmed was William. Rossi said he came through to say hello to her and her family, and mentioned the health issue to identify himself.
Rossi then said Helga’s son came through, and he went very quickly. She said Steven is telling her to not let his passing get to her, and he is always watching over her and is alive in spirit. Steven was sending a message for his mother to tell her he loves her and misses her.
“This is a message of hope, not of sadness,” said Rossi.
She then asked Helga if Steven was a rebel, and she confirmed he was. Rossi said he is still a rebel, but in a fun way, as he loves to joke around.
“He loved his women,” said Helga.
Audience Thoughts on the Event
I asked some of those who attended the event if they enjoyed it and what they found the most interesting.
“I thought the event was great! I thought the best part of the readings was the comfort that it gave to the folks who received the readings. So many of the participants lost loved ones suddenly and unexpectedly, and the words that the departed communicated to their loved ones, through Silvia, often brought a sense of peace and closure,” said Lord-Stout.
“I had a good time. I was pleased to see how many people showed up, since it is such a unique event,” said Ramsay. “I was personally read, and even though some of the reading was a little vague, what Ms. Rossi said still rang true for me. I'm glad that I went.”
“Silvia Rossi’s group readings offer a fantastic opportunity for the community to reconnect with their loved ones in a safe and compassionate environment,” said Darlene White, associate director of marketing, events, and strategic communications at Centenary. “Even the most skeptical will leave her event wondering ‘How could she possibly have known…’ As the organizer, I can attest she is never provided a guest list or information on the guests who attend. I’m always fascinated and moved by her abilities.”
Conclusion
Rossi’s Psychic Medium event at Centenary was well attended, and many tears were shed. I would recommend this event to anyone, but make sure to bring tissues! Keep an eye out for more events with Rossi in the future.
Rossi also does private sessions. She can be reached at her website: https://silviarossi.com/ or her Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/silvia_rossi22/.
