Centenary University’s women’s soccer team stepped up to the field against Cairn University at the J.E. Reeves Jr. Field on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 10 a.m.
The slightly windy outdoor weather felt perfect. It was not too hot, but not too cold. With the crowd on two bleachers behind the field, their frequent chanting helped make this game exciting.
During both periods of the game, the Cyclones tackled the Highlanders. While the Highlanders struggled to score goals, the Cyclones concluded the first period with three goals, and the second with one goal.
“The women’s soccer team is doing well,” said Sion Kim, a spectator of the game.
During this intense competition, juniors Jessica Smith and Liliana Flores, and freshman Jenna Magrino scored one goal each in the first period against the Highlanders. Senior midfielder Eve Haddad added one goal on a penalty kick in the second period with 28 minutes left to play.
“I liked that the team was able to work together,” said freshman Sarah Blajda, a forward defender.
“Trying to move the ball back and forth and from goal to goal was challenging,” said Haddad.
The Cyclones accomplished their win against the Highlanders 4-0. Their overall record at the time of this printing is 2-5.
Keep up the good work, Cyclones!
