For the Cyclones cross country program, their 2023 season is a story of success that they have been building towards for years.
When asked to describe why the program had so much success, Coach Pat Regan affirmatively answered, “dedication.”
“All of the athletes are dedicated. They all work hard, and we’ve had a lot of personal bests this year,” Regan added.
For both the men’s and women’s sides, their best finishes came on Sept. 1 during the Misericordia Invitational, where they finished 12th and 8th respectively.
Sophomore Jarod Gajda led the men’s pack with a rapid time of 17:08. Right behind him, Gabe Lentzner, also a second-year runner, finished with a time of 18:38, a 1:22 improvement from last season.
Jillian Ulanowski, a first-year runner for the Lady Cyclones, led the women’s team with a time of 22:13. Senior Captain Kelly Ann Earrusso was not far behind, with a time of 22:48.
Moving forward, Regan expressed his primary goal is to help the athletes improve their performance.
The Cyclones did just that when they competed in the 2023 Atlantic East Championship on Oct. 28. Both the men’s and women’s teams finished in fifth place, an improvement on last year’s sixth place finish.
“We’re the Cyclones, we bring the storm,” Regan said.
To wrap up their season, the Cyclones cross country teams will compete in the NCAA DIII Metro Regional Championship on Nov. 11 in Glassboro, NJ.
