When searching Hackettstown for a bite to eat, it can be overwhelming. There are countless restaurants that are all appealing, making it difficult to choose which to try first.
If you’re looking for a place to find your next meal, ask yourself these questions: Have you ever wanted to feel a sense of family and friendliness while picking up your meal from a restaurant? Has it been difficult to find a balance between an affordable meal and one that pleases your taste buds?
Well, look no further because Sonny’s II offers affordable food, varied flavor profiles, and an atmosphere that leaves you with a sense of belonging.
For over 30 years, Sonny’s II has been a family-run restaurant and has been passed down for three generations.
Sonny’s II is located at 915 Country Road 517; they offer orders for pick up and delivery, and have a small but cozy space for a quick dine-in.
Upon entering the restaurant, you are greeted with the warm, garlic aroma from the pizza oven and friendly faces behind the counter. Sonny’s atmosphere is cozy and bright, allowing you to enjoy your time waiting for your order to be prepared.
Whether you’re ordering over the phone for pick up or inside the restaurant, the employees are straightforward about preparation time. I have not had to wait longer than the estimated time inside the restaurant for my order after paying for my food.
When I order for myself, I get their meat lover's roll and six garlic knots, which are both served with marinara sauce.
The meat lover’s roll is $8.95 when paying cash, which fits within a reasonable price range for the portion received. I dunk each bite in marinara sauce, creating a coating of deliciousness over the meat and cheese. The assortment of meats creates a delicate and savory aroma, amplified by the richness of the cheese, all brought together by the slight crunch of the roll’s outer shell.
Sonny’s garlic knots are my favorite menu item. An order of six is $3.50 when paying in cash, which is affordable for the portion and quality of the appetizer. Each bite combines a light, doughy interior with a crispy, buttery exterior. When pairing them with their marinara sauce, it adds hints of sweetness mixed well with the overall savory profile.

My family and I frequent Sonny’s, and we often order their large cheese pizzas. A large cheese pizza is $15.95 when paying in cash, an affordable price for a substantial portion. The crunchy, crispy crust mixed with the gooey and savory combination of cheese and tomato sauce creates a traditional Italian cuisine.
While Sonny’s is known for their pizzas, they offer a variety of menu options. This includes various topping options for their pizzas, along with gourmet or ultimate pizzas. In addition to their rolls, Sonny’s also makes strombolis and calzones.
If you aren’t in the mood for pizza, Sonny’s has a wide range of meal options. Their chicken dishes, such as chicken penne vodka and chicken francese, blend tender chicken with savory sauces to create a hearty dinner. They also offer seafood, pasta, and parmigiana dishes; soups; salads; hot and cold sandwiches; wraps; and various sides and appetizers.
Sonny’s not only offers pick up or delivery dinners, but caters for different events such as holiday parties, business or corporate events, and more. Customers can choose between half trays serving six to eight people and full trays serving 10 to 15 people. Party subs and platters are also available, along with dessert trays. They have various possibilities for your party needs.
Every week, Sonny’s offers different specials for pick up only. The prices mentioned are before tax and when paying in cash.
The Tuesday special includes two large plain pizzas and a two liter bottle of soda for $25. The Wednesday special includes any two subs and a two liter bottle of soda for $22.95.
On Thursday’s, their family dinner for four includes penne vodka, a nine inch salad, and 12 garlic knots or garlic bread for $44.95. On Sunday’s, their family dinner for four includes chicken parmigiana, a nine inch salad, and 12 garlic knots or garlic bread for $49.95.
