If you’re ever walking on Main Street and are in the mood for a good coffee or baked goodie, Sweet Bite Delights is the place to go! On Monday, Dec. 23, 2023, the doors of this amazing bakery opened on 199 Main Street.
Sweet Bite Delights offers various types of coffee, including a Nutella latte and a Bombom coffee, which is espresso layered with condensed milk. There are assorted sweet treats, such as tres leches, flan, different types of cakes, and a unique collection of ice cream, including mint-chocolate brownie and toasted coconut. You can also order customizable cakes for any event or birthday.
The iced caramel latte is phenomenal and is filled with amazing flavor and sweetness. There is a dollop of whipped cream and caramel drizzle on top. It is perfectly paired with the tiramisu ice cream. It also has a strong taste of coffee which I love.
“The journey of my bakery began during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Leticia Reyes, the owner of Sweet Bite Delights. “Seeking a creative outlet, I enrolled in online baking courses, and I quickly fell in love with the art of pastry. What started as a hobby turned into a passion, and soon I was experimenting with recipes and sharing my creations with friends, family, and neighbors.”
Reyes’s husband, a barber, began giving her flan and tres leches to his clients, and she began receiving orders for her desserts.
“Recognizing the opportunity to grow, my husband and I made the bold decision to take the leap and pursue our dream of opening a bakery,” said Reyes. “We began the process of obtaining the necessary permits, a journey that felt incredibly long and challenging, and six months later, we finally received the construction permits and could begin transforming our vision into reality.”
After opening the doors of the bakery, her career took flight.
I asked a student who loves Sweet Bite Delight, Caprice Copeland, a freshman criminal justice major, some questions about this bakery.
“The thing I love most is the delicious food, especially the tres leches,” said Copeland. “You can get a small personal size or a big one for multiple people, which I love. They also have many awesome deals including a 10% off for Centenary students, 50% off foods on Tuesdays, and $2 coffee on Thursdays. They also have free Wi-Fi so we can just sit down and do work.”
The 10% off for Centenary students began once the owner realized how many come by for her treats.
And it’s mom-approved! Desiree, mom of Lauren Mumford, Cyclone Chronicle staff writer, and a senior individual studies major with a concentration in English, approves of this astonishing bakery. And she should know; she is a “food connoisseur,” according to Lauren.
“It hasn’t been an easy road, but every challenge has only fueled my passion for baking. Today, I am grateful for the support of my community and excited to share my love for pastries with everyone,” said Reyes.
Sweet Bite Delights is a very successful bakery and has extended its menu and services. You can also get your order delivered to you through DoorDash.
In addition to sweet treats, you can now get brunch-style foods, including avocado toast and French toast.
