Let’s Do The Time Warp One Last Time: A Tribute to Tim Curry

English actor and singer Timothy James Curry, also known as Tim Curry, passed away on August 25, 2026. He was 80 years old, and born on April 19, 1946. Curry was known for his villainous and eccentric work, which gained many of his movies a cult following. 

One of Curry's most memorable and influential roles was his role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the original London stage production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and the movie of the same name. The Rocky Horror Picture Show itself was an incredibly influential horror movie when it came out, and Curry’s performance was the highlight of it. The Rocky Horror Picture Show was one of the first horror movies that had sold out seating at midnight showings with full crowds singing along with Curry’s character. Even to this day, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is considered a cult classic and often gets reruns in theaters all around.

Curry was also known for playing Pennywise in the original It movie from 1990. He also made an appearance in Scary Movie 2 and Tales From the Crypt. Outside of his extensive horror movie influence, Curry was also found in movies as a voice actor, one of which was FernGully: The Last Rainforest. Curry also had a role in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York as Mr. Hector. 

During his time as an actor, Curry received three Tony nominations and an Emmy nod during his five decades in the industry. Curry left the acting industry following a major stroke in 2012 that led to brain surgery.

In October 2025, Curry released a memoir (Vagabond: A Memoir), which touched upon his life and shared that he was going through some health issues.

Curry was a beloved actor that will be missed by many.
