Thomas Edge was an inaugural member of The Cyclone Chronicle, and served as a sports writer and editor from Fall 2023 to Spring 2025.
I am a Special Education English Teacher at High Point Regional High School. I also serve as the Head Boys Soccer Coach and an Assistant Coach for Unified Track and Field.
I teach English in the Learning and Language Disabilities (LLD) program, where I help students with various disabilities build their reading and writing skills in ways that work best for them. As a coach, I support student-athletes and help them grow not only as players but, more importantly, as people.
Being part of the student newspaper made a big difference for me. As an English teacher, I use writing, editing, and communication skills every single day. It also taught me to value the student voice, which shapes how I teach now.
My advice for undergrads is to get involved! The experiences you have outside of class, like joining the newspaper, can teach you a lot and open doors later on. Try new things, take chances, and look for any opportunity that will help you grow.
