Are you looking for a romance movie to watch ahead of Valentine’s Day? Are you tired of watching the same old romantic comedies every year? Well, Warner Bros has a treat for you: an all-new adaptation of one of the most celebrated novels ever written! Wuthering Heights brings Emily Brontë’s 1847 novel to the big screen in a gloriously gothic fashion, with a talented cast and crew helping to bring a new vision of the classic story to life.
The core story of Wuthering Heights is one of cautionary love, as it tracks the flawed relationship between a woman from a wealthy estate and a younger man struck by poverty. This story has seen numerous adaptations in the near-two centuries the novel has been published. These include a vast multitude of movies, ranging from a 1939 adaptation starring Merle Oberon and Laurence Olivier – often ranked among the greatest films of all time – and a well-received British version from 2011 starring Kaya Scodelario. But what helps this upcoming adaptation stand out from its predecessors is its tone, as the trailers have highlighted the romance between the two protagonists against a gothic Yorkshire backdrop.
Bringing this unique vision to life is a talented director: Emerald Fennell, whose talents range both in front of and behind the camera. Fennell’s film career began with supporting performances in flicks like Albert Nobbs, The Danish Girl, and Pan. But in 2020, she began her filmmaking journey with her psychological drama, Promising Young Woman – which she directed, wrote, and produced. The film proved to be a massive success, earning positive reception from critics and audiences while winning multiple awards, including an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. She followed that movie up in 2023 with Saltburn, a star-studded thriller featuring the likes of Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi, Rosamund Pike, and Carey Mulligan.
Elordi will also be starring in Wuthering Heights as one of the primary protagonists, Heathcliff. He will be starring opposite Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw, with their relationship serving as the focal point of the movie’s marketing and overall story. In addition, the film features a vast array of talent in its supporting cast, which includes names like Hong Chau – who was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in The Whale – and Owen Cooper, fresh off his breakthrough role in Adolescence.
The talent attached to this movie even extends beyond the performers and director, as it also ties into the music. As promised in the trailers, the film will feature original songs by famed musician Charli XCX, who has seen a massive surge in popularity in the last few years. Following the release of her viral 2024 pop album, Brat, and its subsequent tour throughout 2025, she has climbed the ranks to become one of the most popular artists in this day and age. She contributed her talents to an entire album dedicated to this movie, with original tracks like “House” and “Chains of Love” available to stream now!
With all of this talent involved, it paints the picture of a promising film to catch on the most lovely day of the year. In fact, the hype has translated to the box office, as the film is tracking to earn around $30-35 million in its first three days alone! This would give the film the biggest opening weekend of 2026 so far, indicating a promising start to this highly anticipated blockbuster. But when will the movie be available to the public, and where can audiences check it out?
Wuthering Heights will be released in thousands of theaters nationwide – including the local Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas Mansfield – on Friday, Feb. 13, with previews starting the day before. Tickets are on sale now on Cinépolis’s website, so buy yours today to secure your seat! And stay tuned for staff writer Tanner Sullivan’s review, which will be published soon after the movie releases!
