Welcome back to the Chronicle Critters, featuring the furry, the scaly, and the feathery! This edition highlights The Cyclone Chronicle staff and their companions.
—
Starting out is Alexis d’Ambly’s—senior writing major and editor-in-chief of The Cyclone Chronicle—Duck.

No, Duck isn’t an actual duck; instead, this aquatic buddy is an eight-year-old goldfish. Duck was won at a carnival and has grown a lot since then. He’s now almost too big for his tank and loves to munch on pond sticks (fish food). Duck spends his days vacuuming food off his rocks and knocking over any decoration in his tank. Duck is such a big part of d’Ambly’s family that he even gets referred to as a little brother.
See d’Ambly’s flash fiction about Duck in the upcoming Prism literary magazine. More information to come.

Next comes a trio of pups from Samantha Swayze, sophomore writing major and managing editor of The Cyclone Chronicle.

Starting off this adorable trio is Rocky, a five-year-old chocolate lab who loves to cuddle. Rocky’s quirky trait is rubbing his head on yours when he sniffs your head, then rubbing against anything and everything around him.
Up next is six-year-old Hank. Hank—ike many of us—doesn’t like strangers; but, once he warms up, he becomes your new cuddle companion. Swayze gets plenty of hugs and kisses from this sweet boy.
Then comes Mollie, the eldest of the crew. Mollie is an eleven-year-old beagle that’s full of love. She may be tiny, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t smother her owner with all the love her little body can hold.

Carmella Vitel’s—senior communication major and managing editor of The Cyclone Chronicle—Luna and Pola are the next two pups to join.
Luna. (Photo by owner Carmella Vitel)
This three-year-old is Luna (Lunafreya), a Havachon (Bichon Frise and Havanese mix). Don’t let her age fool you; she’s every bit of a baby as the day Vitel took her home. Luna loves hugs and pets, and always has to have physical contact, even if it’s just a single paw. She’s a music lover too! She loves it when you sing to her and even has a favorite song too. Simply saying the lyrics gets her excited. She’s very jealous, too. Don’t even try to go on your phone when she wants your attention; she’ll whack it right out of your hand.
Pola. (Photo by owner Carmella Vitel)
Pola (Polaris) is a one-year-old Bichon Frise. If the word “hyper” were personified into a 10lb dog, it would be Pola. While Luna’s love language is pets and hugs, Pola’s is play, play, play! She’ll dodge and weave your attempted pets to lunge for the nearest toy to bring you. She loves to talk, and will “ask nicely” to play by side-eyeing you and grumbling at you quietly. Pola has a temper. If you don’t play with her, she’ll bite at your clothes and try to drag you around until you do.
