Deadpool & Wolverine: The Unlikeliest of Heroes

The merc with the mouth and one of the most iconic X-Men have successfully clawed their way onto the pages of The Cyclone Chronicle! In 2024, self-aware anti-hero Deadpool returned to the big screen with one of the biggest names in all of comic books: Wolverine. Together, they starred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film, Deadpool & Wolverine, which grossed over a billion dollars at the worldwide box office – making it the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time – and was acclaimed by critics and audiences. 

Among its numerous attendees was yours truly, and I fell in love with their story. The balance of meta and raunchy humor, the characters full of charm and depth, the story which cleverly explored the multiverse, and the incredible cameos from previous Marvel properties helped it to climb the ranks of my personal favorite Marvel movies. But now, as the film reaches its 2-year anniversary, it raises one question: does it still hold up after all this time, or was it nothing more than a blunder built off fan service? 

The film centers on the titular duo, Deadpool and Wolverine, as they go on a perilous journey across the multiverse to save the former’s timeline from being obliterated. Along the way, they meet a bunch of other heroes from different Marvel universes – including Elektra, Blade, and Gambit – who assist them on their journey. But in addition to all these different fighters, Deadpool and Wolverine also meet another unspoken hero: the legendary vehicle known as the Honda Odyssey.

This stellar minivan originated back in 1994, and has seen a number of remodels throughout the years. Sporting a very special engine, the vehicle is able to travel with a whopping 280 horsepower, which makes it one of the most efficient of its kind in the entire market. Plus, it has a massive interior complete with up to eight total seats and a radio to play your favorite tunes, making it the ideal minivan for those long road trips!

I’ve personally never owned an Odyssey, but I do own a CR-V, another Honda model which is basically the next best thing! I’ve been driving it nearly every day since summer 2023, and it always provides an incredible experience on the road – even for rides over an hour long! This car has leather seats for a total of five riders and a radio which not only plays local stations, but even has Bluetooth connection! As a result, I can play whatever I want at any given time, ensuring that my rides to and from campus are as enjoyable as they possibly can be. 

It’s no secret that Honda is one of the biggest names in the entire automobile market. They’ve been playing a strong game since the 1940s, producing quality vehicular models with their customers’s enjoyment at the forefront. They prioritize the comfort of the driving experience, resulting in one of the most reliable names in vehicular products, who show no signs of slowing down their work.

No wonder Deadpool and Wolverine chose the wonderful vehicles of Honda to accompany them on their journey to save the multiverse. Because with high quality products like these, they can appeal to any consumer – with or without superpowers!
