GTA 6 Canceled After Four Years of Waiting

In February 2022, Rockstar Games confirmed what everyone was hoping for: Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6). The first trailer came in December 2023, and now here we are just over four years later, still waiting on GTA 6.

“We’ve decided to pull our focus away from Grand Theft Auto VI and put our efforts towards something new—a 2-D cutesy animated dating sim—for Rockstar Games,” said Rockstar Games Manager Franklin Clinton. 

As of April 1 2026, GTA 6 has officially been canceled, and it seems so has any hope of a Red Dead Redemption III. 

Rockstar Games is now focusing on something new and relatively unknown, but will it live up to the hope we had for GTA 6?
