On Thursday, Sept. 19, at 8 p.m., a crowd of students formed outside the quad to enjoy the Hoedown hosted by Student Activities. At the center of the large crowd was the event’s star- the mechanical bull.
Students took turns climbing aboard the bull to see who could hold the longest time for the chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card. Over 115 students attended the Hoedown to party to the music, enjoy the free food, and take their chance with the bull.
Many students attempted to take on the challenge but the stars were Centenary’s equestrian students, who all held remarkable times.
“The event was dominated by horse girls,” said freshman Phylicia Foder.
The winner was senior Caroline Johnson- captain of Centenary’s IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association) Equestrian Team- who held the longest time of 121 seconds.
“It was a super fun experience to have on campus!” said Johnson. “The event does a really great job catering to Centenary’s particular demographic of students and is a fun opportunity to bring the student body together. It definitely got way more competitive than I expected it to!”
