In an intense showdown with a colossal prize at stake, 24 Centenary University students and local gamers alike clash in an epic Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament… Let’s get ready for round two. During Centenary’s CycloneCon, Oasis Arcade hosted a Super Smash Bros. tournament.
This was a 24-entrant single elimination style tournament where the winner would receive a $50 gift card and a six-hour video game session at Oasis Arcade, this event was won by Corey Davis (aka Ice On Deck), who is currently ranked second on the Delaware Power Rankings in Super Smash Bros.
This event was held on Saturday, April 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Student Activities Center in the Cyberspace.
“Oasis tournament play is a celebration of the gaming community, a gathering of like-minded individuals who share a passion for competition and camaraderie,” said Brian McFadden, the owner of Oasis Online Arcade. “It’s a chance for players to forge bonds that transcend screens and controllers, united by the thrill of the game. At Oasis, it’s who we are.”
“I got eliminated in the first round, but other than that it was very fun playing with other people in the tournament,” Billy Winz, a senior at Centenary, said.
“It was a fun event. I’ve always wanted to go into a tournament, and this was the first time I’ve participated in one,” said Dave Anisaffee, a junior at Centenary. “It was a very nice experience because it got me out of my comfort zone.”
