Interested in the student newspaper? Join us in our club room on Thursday afternoons. Here you will find our editors working on an upcoming online issue of the student newspaper along with support materials on student journalism. Now starting our fourth-year reporting on Centenary news "by students-for students," The Cyclone Chronicle brings you timely stories about what's on your mind as a student at Centenary University.
As we begin the fall semester, that seems to be coffee (always coffee), the price of gas, and who's who on campus.
Our campus coverage falls under the categories of news, features, arts & entertainment, sports, editorials, contests, upcoming events, and more. Our stories are written, peer-reviewed, and edited by a group of dedicated and enthusiastic student-journalists.
Join us and become a part of student-journalism at Centenary! The Cyclone Chronicle—an online newspaper—is a product of the Newspaper Production Studio class (WRI2310) that runs every semester on T/Th from 2–3:40 p.m. in Lackland 253.
But, you don't have to take the class to be a part of the team!
We also offer a club option where you can drop in any Thursday, join the conversation, share ideas, and pitch a story that would be of interest to the CU community. We even have a Cyclone Chronicle Club Room located in the lower level of Taylor Memorial Library, inside the Writing Collab space. That’s where you can find me (wink-wink), our pink fuzzy plushie mascot Zeena, who accompanies staff on many adventures!
Can't make the meeting? Send us an email about what you are interested in contributing! In addition to writing, we encourage all creatives looking for an outlet for photography, poetry, social media, cartooning, and more.
This semester we are excited to have a returning staff member who has proposed we do a regular broadcast news segment collaborating with the communication department. We have another student who is our hooves-on-the-ground correspondent at The Barn, the hub of Centenary's equine program. Greek life? We've got you covered. Sports? Always looking for more aspiring sports journalists!
Call us partial, but we think we are the best experiential learning opportunity at Centenary!
