Thanksgiving is a special time of year, bringing together families and enjoying delicious meals.
This year, The Cyclone Chronicle wanted to know the favorite main dish, sides, and desserts across campus.
From 32 collected responses, this classic bird is an overwhelming favorite. Turkey may take longer to cook than its pork counterpart, but the juicy, flavorful main course is a long awaited treat. And you know what they say: “Anything worth having is worth waiting for.”

When it comes to sides, this cheesy dish comes in at number one; Mac and Cheese. It can be prepared many different ways, including boxed, stove top, frozen and oven baked, or homemade and covered in bread crumbs. Anyway you enjoy it, it’s always delicious. Coming in at number two is a creamy, warm favorite that is a year-round staple: Mashed Potatoes. They are one dish that makes you keep coming back for seconds. In third place, this bready delicacy is known as a national favorite; Stuffing. Whether you make stuffing homemade or from a box, with or without sausage, you’ll always see it at every Thanksgiving table or inside the turkey.

Lastly, desserts are always the star of the show. Apple pie comes in first place. This perfect fall treat is classic, simple, elegant, and perfectly sweet. If you’re still looking for a good recipe, check out Dave Annisafee’s Apple Crisp Recipe in our Food section of A&E. Pumpkin pie and brownies are tied for second place. Pumpkin is another fall treat that’s always a hit. And a good fudgy brownie can turn any good meal into a great one. Sweet potato pie and cheesecake tied for third place. The pie is a Southern classic with a creamy, graham cracker crusted slice of Heaven– what’s not to love!
